Enhancing Community Engagement and Collaboration:

Fostering partnerships with local communities, indigenous groups, and environmental organizations to co-create sustainable fashion collections and initiatives that celebrate cultural diversity and heritage. Engaging customers through community-led events, pop-up shops, and online forums, encouraging dialogue, creativity, and collective action.

Introducing Dodici:

Let us introduce Dodici, an application dedicated to providing solutions for customizing and purchasing clothing tailored to the needs of individuals in wheelchairs. Through the app, users can both purchase pre-adapted garments and/or tools to customize them.

Each garment and tool featured in the application can be reviewed by users so that everyone can make informed choices based on shared experiences within the community. Additionally, the app offers video tutorials, and in cases where the user is unable to make modifications independently, it connects them with local tailors to provide assistance via a chatbot, “Virtual Tailor.”

The “Virtual Tailor” chatbot allows users to make requests regarding garments to purchase, i.e., clothes already proposed in the app with modifications already made. Users can proceed with their own garments to customize: they can get inspiration on how to best adapt their clothes through video tutorials provided by the app and search for tools to customize them through links to sales pages (e.g., Amazon) suggested by the app. Furthermore, there is a free chat section where users can ask any questions they like, and these requests will be managed and resolved as quickly and efficiently as possible with the intervention of an operator.

The Dodici application provides a dedicated spot for the community, an interactive space where various topics can be discussed each month. The choice of the monthly topic is made through a vote by the users themselves. Once the monthly theme is selected, a chat will be opened among the users where they can interact, exchanging opinions, thoughts, ideas, evaluations, images, documents, links, and much more.

Dodici promotes events that users can participate in by registering in advance. At the beginning of the event, a topic will be proposed, and users will need to collaborate to find solutions to the issue under consideration. The best and most effective solutions will be included within the application.

The Dodici application is available to listen to the many issues proposed by users, not only regarding individual items of clothing but also concerning all the topics they wish to address.

Our mission is to actively engage the community of wheelchair users to create together, through dedicated forums and events, clothing that meets their needs. Our vision is to help and support this community by seeking investments that promote research, but above all, by giving them the opportunity to express themselves freely and have a say.

The concept underlying our proposal is that of “Adaptive fashion,” originally based on DIY, evolved into an inclusive fashion, embracing and going beyond the concept of “Design For All,” an expression that identifies fashion design suitable for everyone, seeking to create a “Design For You.” When it was understood that the need was real, fashion for people with disabilities was born. “Do It Yourself” aims to adapt common clothes to the needs of the individual. The project centers around the concept of style, the idea that everyone has the right to have clothes that are not only comfortable but also identity-affirming. It goes beyond openings, zippers, and magnetic buttons: functional and indispensable elements for those lacking manual dexterity. It’s a matter of identity.

Our theme “Fashion for Inclusion” has allowed us to create a concept linked to fashion that supports inclusion, diversity, and a sense of belonging in the fashion industry. The goal is to use fashion as a platform to celebrate and embrace differences, challenge stereotypes, and foster an environment where everyone feels represented. “Fashion for Inclusion” aims to redefine fashion as a platform for positive change, celebrating diversity, challenging stereotypes, and promoting an inclusive and welcoming space in the industry.

Use Case Scenario:

Meet Mao, our user, who would like to be able to wear his t-shirts with various prints on the front, but the problem is that every time he moves in his wheelchair, the shirt twists, and the print distorts, preventing him from wearing it as he would like. On the Dodici app, he found the solution to his problem.

By accessing the app and logging in with his profile credentials, Mao searched for a possible solution through the search bar on the home page, thus finding several models of t-shirts already modified.

Drawing inspiration from these items, he decided to modify his own clothes. He turned to the “Virtual Tailor” chatbot by clicking on the button icon in the upper left corner. Entering the “I need a tutorial” section, he found a series of explanatory videos to make changes to his t-shirt. After watching a couple of tutorials, he realized that he didn’t have the ability to make the improvements he needed independently. Thanks to the message displayed below each video “You can’t edit it yourself, don’t worry Click here,” he was able to access a map showing all the available tailors who had participated in the project, so he could quickly locate the one closest to him and contact them.
